WVU will soon replace the Duo Mobile multi-factor authentication app with Okta Verify, and Information Technology Services recommends that students install the new app as soon as possible to avoid disruptions. Don't delete the Duo app yet, though. You will still need it for access to some WVU applications until Oct. 1.
All students will be required to set up Okta Verify starting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. When you see the prompt will depend on when you last logged into certain services. Once you see the prompt, you will be temporarily unable to access your MIX email and other Google Workspace services. If you have problems setting up Okta Verify, call the Service Desk at 304-293-4444.
We strongly recommend that you don’t wait for the prompt. The sooner you set up Okta Verify, the less likely you are to experience an interruption to your studies. If you have already set up Okta Verify, you will not see any changes on Sept. 11.
Authentication for hundreds of WVU applications will be changing from mid-September through Oct. 1, and you may see either the old login screen or the new Okta interface when logging in. Call volumes at the Service Desk could be high and wait times could be long on days when large applications such as eCampus and SOLE are updated.
Both Duo and Okta Verify will work for multi-factor authentication until Oct. 1, but on that date, the Duo Mobile app will stop working, and you must use Okta Verify.
