About Digital Transformation

OUR VISION

Like all industries, higher education institutions are undergoing a digital transformation as AI and emerging technologies continue to shape all aspects of society. The next CIO will play an integral role in supporting University efforts to propel AI as an institutional priority.

  • At WVU, we are an AI-forward institution. Our University is fully embracing the challenges and opportunities created by AI.
  • We remain focused on preparing students to meet the needs of employers and communities, step into a dynamic and evolving workforce, and thrive in an AI world.
  • We are focused on updating curriculum to build AI-related content into courses.
  • We are supporting faculty so they can make best decisions about the use of AI as a tool in their coursework.
  • We are building an organizational structure to support evolving needs and deploy AI in support of administrative functions. We aim to bring higher quality outcomes and efficiency to our work.
  • And this is just the beginning!

WVU Cyber

Our recently launched WVU Cyber initiative covers cybersecurity, but so much more.

We're building a cyber defense enterprise to strengthen national security, drive innovation, fortify economic stability, and prepare a future-ready cyber workforce — right here in West Virginia.

Researchers and students study how artificial intelligence is governed, how software systems are built, how businesses respond to digital innovation, and how nations protect critical infrastructure. More than 50 experts across 40 programs and 15 specialized labs collaborate in an interconnected ecosystem.

Recognized by the NSA and DHS as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and Cyber Research, and as a founding member of the U.S. Cyber Command Academic Engagement Network, WVU Cyber prepares a future-ready workforce while advancing digital innovation in West Virginia and beyond.
