ITS-supported computers will have Sophos anti-virus remotely installed this summer

As part of the ongoing effort to strengthen security and protect WVU information, all computers supported by Information Technology Services will have Sophos anti-virus installed this summer. Installation starts Thursday, July 12, and continues throughout the remainder of the summer. This process will not impact the day-to-day usability of your machine.

Users are not required to do anything during this process, which is automated and runs in the background. Once the installation is completed, users will notice the Kaspersky icon in their task bar (Windows) or menu bar (macOS) has been replaced with the Sophos icon.

If you are in a college or department with its own IT staff, please direct questions about the timing of the Sophos installation to them. If your unit is supported by ITS, direct questions or concerns to ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu.
