Instructors invited to attend eCampus training at the beginning of the fall semester

Teaching faculty who are new to using eCampus or who need a refresher can register now for several August training sessions with Information Technology Services. Two classes will be offered: eCampus 101 on Aug. 13 and 16, and eCampus Grade Center on Aug. 21. All sessions will take place in the fifth-floor computer lab (Room 5104) at One Waterfront Place from 9 a.m. to noon. Parking validation will be provided.

eCampus 101 covers basic navigation, building course content, exploring course tools and a quick overview of Grade Center. eCampus Grade Center provides an in-depth look at creating columns for quizzes and tests, manually entering grades vs. importing grades from Excel, calculating grades for weighted assignments, using rubrics and syncing grades to Banner.

ITS walk-up support services moving within the Mountainlair on Wednesday, Aug. 1

Walk-up support services in the Mountainlair such as ID card production and application troubleshooting will move to a new ITS Service Center location in the Vandalia Lounge on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Copying services will continue to be provided at the same location. The hours will be 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Over the summer, computer repair services through ITS were eliminated. Students and employees who need assistance with personally owned machines should contact the manufacturer or one of the many private repair shops. ITS does not endorse any vendor and is not responsible for the quality of their work.

MAP, Data Miner and MyTime will be unavailable July 27-30 for important maintenance

Mountaineer Administrative Processes (MAP), Data Miner and MyTime services (Leave Request, Web Clock) will be unavailable 4 p.m. Friday, July 27 to 11:55 p.m. Monday, July 30, as ITS moves the system from onsite hardware to a cloud environment. The look, feel and functionality of these tools won’t be affected. This migration will, however, help reduce hardware costs and improve overall efficiency of the system.

WVU awards contract for new identity management tool that will improve reliability

The University recently awarded a three-year contract to SailPoint for new identity management services that will improve reliability and replace technology that is no longer supported by the original manufacturer.

Faculty, staff and students won’t see any immediate changes as we begin the transition to the new tools. Your username won’t change, and neither your email nor your two-factor authentication method will be affected.

More secure, searchable version of Banner admin forms (STAR INB) coming with July 20-22 upgrade

Banner and related applications (Workflow and Banner Document Management) will be unavailable from 10 p.m. Friday, July 20 until 11 p.m. Sunday, July 22 for a critical upgrade.

When this work is complete, a new version of Banner administrative forms (STAR INB) will become available, featuring a more modern appearance, improved searching functions and compatibility with more browsers. Additional security protections also will let you access the system on the WVU.Encrypted network, meaning you are no longer tied to your desk. You can advise students, update grades or review applications using your laptop or other mobile device anywhere you can reach WVU’s secure Wi-Fi. The new version of Banner forms will only be accessible through the Portal.
