Faculty, students will see variety of improvements after Jan. 2 eCampus upgrade

The eCampus system will be unavailable for 24 hours starting at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 for an upgrade that will improve security and add or improve several features. When the work is complete, students will also have free access to the Blackboard App for Students. Grades, course content and more will be available at no charge on iOS, Android, or Windows mobile devices.

Other benefits of this upgrade include:

New Box View: This replaces the inline grading functionality of Crocodoc, which the vendor is discontinuing Jan. 15. New Box View also offers better rendering fidelity and support for new file types.

New file drag and drop locations are available.
  • Content Collection – file upload page replacing Java-dependent interface
  • Content Editor – embed attachment
  • Blank Page content type
  • Blog – Create Entry
  • Journal – Create Entry

Grade display standardization: This fix brings consistency to grades across a variety of views. The % symbol is being removed from cells in the offline download file to ensure values are not rounded. The offline file will include the primary display format type in the gradebook column header.

Enhanced Submission Receipts:
Students can receive a notification email for each assignment attempt, with information about the submission, including attached files. Students can also access receipts at any time on the My Grades page in the submissions filter area.

ITS appreciates your patience with this planned maintenance outage. If the work is completed earlier than anticipated, the system may be available for use sooner. For the fastest updates, follow @WVUITServices or “like” WVU Information Technology on Facebook. Please direct any questions to
