ITS Service Desk hours changing for winter break; eCampus will be down Jan. 2

The ITS Service Desk will be closed on the following dates: Dec. 22-26, Dec. 30-Jan. 1. The Service Desk is otherwise open 7:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday over winter break, resuming normal hours when the residence halls reopen Saturday, Jan. 6.

If you need assistance when the Service Desk is closed, visit to search self-help articles. You can still submit requests for assistance to or leave a message at 304-293-4444, but these will not be answered until the Service Desk reopens.

ITS recommends updating macOS High Sierra to fix security issue

Information Technology Services recommends that all employees and students using the Mac operating system High Sierra install Security Update 2017-001. Released Wednesday by Apple, this update fixes a major flaw that allows administrative access to your computer without providing a password – a security issue first disclosed publicly on Tuesday.

Apple recommends that all users install the update as soon as possible and has also started automatically installing the update on all systems running High Sierra.

Get ahead of the curve: Update your Login password now to avoid winter break disruptions

If you are teaching or planning to take classes during the new Winter Intersession Dec. 14-Jan. 4, please reset your WVU Login password beforehand. Many passwords will expire during the winter break. Click “Check Account Status” at to see the expiration date on your account and change it now, if appropriate, to avoid disruption later.

The ITS Service Desk will be closed Dec. 22, 25 and 26, and Jan. 1 for the University holidays but otherwise open 7:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, be aware that eCampus will be unavailable for 24 hours starting 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 for long-planned system upgrades.
