Departmental copy-print cards are secure, convenient alternative to sharing Mountaineer IDs

Instead of sharing your Mountaineer ID Card with student workers and others, Information Technology Services advises WVU faculty and staff to obtain a separate departmental card for routine copying and printing needs. These cards are secure, convenient and in compliance WVU's policy on Acceptable Use of Data and Technology Resources. Request one on the  ITS help site.

When you let someone use your personal identification, it presents an opportunity for misuse. It also gives others inappropriate access to resources, including door locks to offices and classrooms, and the ability to spend Mountie Bounty balances in dozens of other areas. Copy-print cards are the solution for faculty and staff who need to delegate those duties, including poster production. There is no limit on how many a department can have.

Copy-print cards also help your department track how much it spends on copying and printing services. For departments that reimburse employees for this work, it’s a convenient resource that saves time, and reduces bureaucracy and paperwork.
