Security feature added to; log into site to avoid using Captcha tool

To improve the security of the WVU Directory and access to employee information, Information Technology Services has added a Captcha tool, the common feature that asks you to confirm, “I am not a robot.”

If you are a frequent user of, you can avoid this feature by clicking the LOGIN button in the top right corner of the page and entering your WVU Login credentials. If you open a second browser, you’ll have to repeat this process. Early adopters of two-factor authentication will have to authenticate during this process. This is consistent with current practice of requiring WVU Login credentials to search for student information.

Outlook email also has a built-in email directory that will let you search for WVU employees with addresses. Just click Address Book in the tool bar of your email window. This tool will not identify WVU Medicine addresses.

We have made this change to prevent outside attempts to mass-mine employee information. Email addresses and other data could be used to support phishing scams, which are attempts to steal your personal credentials and gain access to your information.
