Students: Here's what you need to know about the current Google Docs phishing scam

There is an active Google Docs email scam. It can give hackers access to your account. DO NOT click links in an email like this:

If you clicked the fake Google Doc invitation link, to check and/or remove unauthorized access follow these instructions:

Go to https://myaccount.google.com/secureaccount

This phishing attack works by granting hackers access to your account. Changing your password will not fix the problem. You must remove the unauthorized access by following these steps.

 Step 1

If you enabled it, make sure your recovery information is correct. If it isn’t, fix it. Then click Done

Step 2

Check your connected devices.

If something looks wrong, click Something Looks Wrong. Otherwise, click on Looks Good

Step 3

This is where you need to pay EXTRA ATTENTION.

Look through who has permissions on your account.

Remove any you do not recognize. DEFINITELY remove one if it says Google Docs.

Click Done

Step 4

Make sure to change your Login password.
