STAR Login issue workaround.

Please log out of the Portal if you entered STAR that way. Close and relaunch your browser, then go directly to and try to log in.

This is a temporary workaround while our technical teams continue to investigate the source of the problem. We will provide another update when we have more information.

Revamped help site should be easier to use with new features, more descriptive labels

Faculty, staff and students should have an easier time finding answers to common questions and problems, as well as requesting support, when changes to go into effect Friday, March 31. Over the past few months, Information Technology Services has incorporated suggestions from a focus group and from individual users who have recommended improvements.

The help site has two main tools. The Knowledge Base is a repository of articles, how-to guides, troubleshooting information and more that lets you look up answers on your own. The Service Catalog lets you pick the category you’re interested in and request assistance from many WVU departments. Questions on each form help get your request in the right hands for quicker results.

Students: Don’t share your Mountaineer Card or your Login credentials with anyone

As we near the end of another semester, Information Technology Services reminds all students that sharing Mountaineer Cards with anyone, including friends and family, is not permitted. If you’re caught sharing the cards, you risk having them confiscated.

Neither are you permitted to share your WVU Login password with parents, fellow students or others, even if it is to deposit money into your Mountie Bounty account.

Students & employees: will be down 10-11 a.m. March 22 will be down 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, while Information Technology Services replaces the tool currently used to make Mountie Bounty deposits. When the work is complete, the system will look and feel slightly different but offer the same features as well as some new ones.

After this upgrade, parents must visit to make guest deposits and choose the “Parent/Guest Add Mountie Bounty” button. They will need to know their students’ WVU Login username only. Students should NOT share their passwords with parents, friends or anyone else.

Many major systems and services unavailable 6 a.m.-noon Sunday, March 19

Login, eCampus, Portal, STAR and many other services may be available but are not guaranteed from 6 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 19, during important maintenance. Any system requiring WVU Login credentials will be affected, and Login users will not be able to claim accounts or change passwords. Other services may be briefly affected.
