ITS revises identity management policy and extends public comment period to Feb. 23

Using helpful feedback from faculty and staff, Information Technology Services has revised its new Identity and Access Management policy and is reopening the public comment period until Friday, Feb. 23.

The policy would require the use of WVU Login credentials across most University-owned machines and systems used by faculty, staff and students. Centrally supported authentication credentials help prevent unauthorized electronic access to information, systems and applications, as well as potentially fraudulent activity.

With the changes, ITS has: clarified how the policy would apply to IT assets used in off-site research; explained requirements when using both wired and wireless networks; and clarified that a recognized directory service must be used for authentication.

To read the policy, please visit the ITS website and look under Draft Policies for Review. Enter your WVU Login credentials when prompted. Please direct questions to Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer
