ITS seeking comment on new Information Privacy Policy by Friday, Jan. 13

Faculty, staff and students are invited to review and comment on a new Information Privacy Policy intended to help safeguard the personally identifiable information and private health information of people whose data is collected for business purposes.

To review the document, please visit the ITS website and look under Draft Policies for Review. Enter your WVU Login credentials when prompted. Information Technology Services will accept feedback until midnight Friday, Jan. 13.

This policy specifies that personally identifiable information (PII) and private health information (PHI) will be used only for academic or administrative purposes, that disclosure will be limited, and that the University will not collect or update this data without consent. The draft policy also specifies that WVU will not sell, market or otherwise distribute this information.

Please submit comments to Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer Alex Jalso at Alex.Jalso@mail.wvu.edu.
