Employees, students and emeritus faculty may now download free copies of Microsoft Office 2016 on their personally owned computers and mobile devices. Information Technology Services has provided instructions how to install Office ProPlus to ensure all users have the latest features.
The previous version, Office 2013, will not be available for download after Nov. 14. Users who have already installed the older version on their personal machines and want to continue using it may do so or upgrade now to Office 2016.
WVU’s Microsoft license allows all current faculty, staff and students to download copies of Microsoft Office ProPlus onto as many as five personally owned computers and five mobile devices. However, when you leave WVU, that software will cease to function, and you will have to purchase a personal license.
This change does not affect faculty and staff at the Health Science Center; they should continue to contact Health Sciences IT if they need Office 2013.
