Emergency maintenance 8-10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 could affect some WVU systems

Information Technology Services wants faculty, staff and students to be aware of the possibility that several important services could be unavailable 8-10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. At potential risk during this emergency maintenance period are Office 365, the WVU portal and Login, as well as other services.

WVNET, which hosts a WVU data center, experienced a power failure on Thursday, Sept. 22 and now must conduct emergency maintenance to fix a faulty bypass switch for its Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). There is a possibility that this work could cut power to the WVU Data Center, even with a backup generator. Should this happen, the services below could potentially be affected:

  • Office 365, including Outlook email
  • DegreeWorks
  • STAR
  • MAP (Mountaineer Administrative Processes) & MAP SOA
  • Parking gates (Mountainlair & Evansdale)
  • Extension Services websites
  • My Printing and normal administrative network printing
  • Transom (Secure FTP) and TeamDynamix email gateway
  • TMA for Morgantown campus
  • TutorTrac
  • Worldox
  • Study Abroad
  • Web Services/UR Intranet
