Students: Ignore unsolicited job-offer messages or offers asking you to deal with money

Legitimate job recruiters working with WVU Career Services will NEVER mail you a check to be cashed, request your bank account information or involve you in financial transactions of any kind while arranging interviews or a job offer.

Nor will legitimate employers initiate contact with you via generic email or text message. Recognized WVU recruiters also DO NOT ask students to contact them via Skype or Google Hangouts without first ensuring that you have contacted the Career Services Center.

Please contact WVU Career Services or DefendYourData@mail.wvu.edu immediately if you receive any job-related message that seeks this information or anything else that seems suspicious. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
