Apple catalog, IT purchasing form are now available in Mountaineer Marketplace

Apple is now a preferred catalog vendor in Mountaineer Marketplace, with dozens of items available in the purchasing system that replaced WVUBuy over the summer. When you click the Apple icon, a window will connect you to the punch-out site. You may be prompted to click an “Allow Pop-Up” button to complete this step.

In addition to Apple, users interested in software or computer hardware can shop the Dell and CDWG preferred catalogs in Mountaineer Marketplace. Software, hardware and consulting services ordered through non-preferred catalog vendors such as HP also require completion of an IT Purchasing form now posted under “Additional Forms” on the Marketplace home page.

Students: Beware of job offer emails asking to use Google Hangouts

Students should not respond to a new email job scam inviting you to download or use a Google Hangout or Skype application. This is an attempt to steal your personal credentials, which would make you vulnerable to fraud or identity theft.

If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you never applied with the company that emailed you, be careful! Never provide personal information of any kind, including bank account or credit card numbers, Social Security Numbers, Login credentials, or usernames and passwords to anyone seeking that information by email or chat. Consider it a scam until ITS reviews the email.

Some WVU Medicine employees may not be receiving emails from WVU+kc

If you are a WVU Medicine employee who uses WVU+kc, you may not be receiving email notices from the system. Information Technology Services is actively working to address this problem, but recommends in the meantime that you log into WVU+kc and check for any pending requests that need to be addressed.

Many WVU Medicine users have recently informed ITS their email address in WVU+kc are incorrect and they have not received any system-generated email notices.

Portal, Teamwork and other systems will be unavailable 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 4 & 11

Portal.wvu.edu, Teamwork.wvu.edu and several other systems will be unavailable 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 11 while Information Technology Services moves data to a new storage system. This critical upgrade replaces two existing systems with one and increases storage capacity by 65 percent. This change is expected to save the University more than $500,000 a year.

May 2016 grads: ITS has restored most deleted MIX email accounts

Information Technology Services has restored more than 730 former students’ MIX email accounts after a data-integration problem that inadvertently deleted them. ITS is reviewing an additional 100 accounts to determine whether they should be reactivated. All students who graduated in May 2016 should have their accounts restored by the end of the day (Tuesday, Aug. 16).

Students who are returning this semester as graduate students were not affected. Former students who graduated but are working for the University as a Mountaineer Temps also were not affected.

May 2016 grads: Please let ITS know if you have lost access to your MIX email account

Information Technology Services is investigating a data-integration problem that resulted in the deletion of some MIX (Gmail) accounts for former students 100 days after their graduations in May 2016. If you are a former student who has lost your @mix.wvu.edu account and would like to have it restored, please call the Service Desk at 304-293-4444

Students who are returning this semester as graduate students are not affected. Former students who graduated but are working for the University as a Mountaineer Temps also do not appear to be affected.

Reorganized eCampusinfo site should help faculty, students find things faster

Faculty and students should be able to find information and get questions answered more easily and quickly with the newly redesigned informational eCampus website. Information Technology Services has worked over the summer to improve both the accessibility of information and mobile device compatibility.

Among the changes are a new Getting Started section targeted at first-time or novice users, and Quick Tips that highlight the answers to commonly asked questions. The navigational tabs also now have more specific names: They are Faculty Resources; Student Resources; and Help and Support.
