A recent Microsoft update can cause performance issues with Word and Outlook 2013 on Windows machines. Affected computers may periodically freeze or operate with extreme slowness when using these programs. Although Microsoft stopped distributing this update, some University-owned computers received it, so some faculty and staff could be experiencing problems.
