When inclement weather or other crises strike, faculty can use either eCampus or STAR to communicate with students about cancellations, changes in deadlines, alternative assignments or remote instruction.
In eCampus, faculty can email an entire class or all members of multiple classes, including cross-listed, using the Qwickly tool. Details are available.
In STAR, instructors can email an individual or an entire class from the Detail or Summary Class list inside the Faculty & Advisor tab.
Instructors can also consider holding classes remotely using Blackboard Collaborate, a real-time video conferencing tool in eCampus. Information Technology Services recommends that faculty who are considering using this tool familiarize themselves with it before an urgent need arises. Instructors can add files, share applications and use a virtual whiteboard to interact. Details are on the eCampus Info website.
The ITS Training team offers periodic training in these tools. Please visit http://it.wvu.edu/services/training/schedule, check out our calendar and let us help prepare you. For questions or further assistance, please call (304) 293-4444, email ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu or visit it.wvu.edu/help.
