ITS recommends WVU users delay installing new El Capitan operating system

Information Technology Services recommends faculty, staff and students delay installing the new Mac OS X operating system, El Capitan, until further notice.

Apple is releasing a free operating system upgrade today (Wednesday, Sept. 30) that could create complications for users who install it right away.

Konica Minolta, the brand of most campus copier/printers, does not yet have printer drivers to install for the new system. El Capitan also could cause instabilities in Outlook email for people using Office 2011.

ITS strongly recommends that anyone who decides to install El Capitan also upgrade to Office 2016 to avoid problems with email.
