Java software update will be required after Aug. 10 MAP upgrade

When logging into MAP (Mountaineer Administrative Processes) on Monday, Aug. 10 and thereafter, all users will be prompted to upgrade their Java software version from SE6 to SE7.

Most Business Offices will receive a Software Center notification when they log in on Aug. 10. Those who do NOT receive automatic instructions for upgrading JAVA directly from MAP are also included below.

MAP will be down weekend of Aug. 8-9; MyAccess and MyTime will be online

MAP (Mountaineer Administrative Processes) will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 until 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10 for an important system upgrade. However, both MyAccess and MyTime will remain available throughout the weekend. Time cards will be updated once the outage is completed.

Upon logging into the system Aug. 10 and thereafter, all MAP users will be prompted to upgrade their Java software from version SE6 to SE7. Most users will receive a software center alert and should be able to double-click, follow the installation instructions and update without any further action required.

ITS pilot-testing walk-up technology support at Mountainlair Aug. 18-Sept. 25

Information Technology Services will pilot walk-up support at the ITS Service Center in the Mountainlair for six weeks starting Tuesday, Aug. 18. Walk-up support will enhance customer service through in-person interaction, increase the use of ITS resources and build a culture of self-help by showing customers how to fix problems and find online resources.

During the pilot period, ITS Connect staff will be available for 15- to 20-minute consultations at the ITS Service Center to the left of the Information Desk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.  ITS will review the use and effectiveness of ITS Connect to determine whether the pilot should be extended beyond Friday, Sept. 25.

KC Blue Sheet will replace EBS this fall, saving time and steps in submissions

Later this fall, WVU+kc (Kuali Coeus) will feature a new tool that streamlines the approvals and submission process, automatically routing proposals to the Office of Sponsored Programs as soon as a dean or designated approver has signed off.

KC Blue Sheet is a more stable platform that will replace Electronic Blue Sheet (EBS) and will eliminate not only the need to repeatedly check for approvals, but also the extra step of submitting the document. This upgrade is part of the continuing effort to improve the functionality and customer experiences with WVU+kc.
