Improvements to WVU+kc set to go live Monday, Aug. 11

A new, more user-friendly version of WVU+kc, an online tool for research compliance, award administration and funding notification, will go live Monday, Aug. 11.

The system is expected to be offline for this upgrade from 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 until 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11. Researchers who have already begun questionnaires in the current system MUST complete and submit them before Aug. 8, or the data will be lost. Those who have not begun questionnaires may choose to wait for the new and improved version of WVU+kc.

New self-service features now available from Information Technology Services

Information Technology Services now has a more intuitive, user-friendly and attractive self-service system for engaging help at it.wvu.edu/help. The long-term goal of this system is to resolve more problems on first contact and to empower more users with the information they need to help themselves.

ITS has replaced the current tool with a new portal because Service Desk Express is no longer being updated or supported by the vendor who created it.

Office 2016 for Mac now available through Office 365 web application

Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac is now available for students, faculty and staff to install on personally owned devices through the Office 365 web application. All employees and students have five free license downloads for personal use, and this download will count as one of those.

The entire suite of Office products is included – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote and Outlook. Users must have OSX 10.10 Yosemite to download Office 2016. Older operating systems must use Office 2011.

New eCampus mobile app will be ready for start of fall semester

Students and faculty will be able to access WVU eCampus on mobile devices starting this fall by downloading the new Blackboard Mobile Learn app.

A mobile application that brings two-way teaching and learning to iOS and Android devices has been the most-requested feature from both students and faculty members. Information Technology Services will provide details about availability and downloading instructions as the launch date approaches, so please watch for updates.

ITS schedules eCampus training, open labs for faculty on Aug. 13-14

Information Technology Services has scheduled open labs and training in eCampus on Thursday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 14 for faculty members who want help. Open lab help sessions are aimed at those who have already built the course(s) they teach but need some additional help. The one-hour training sessions are for eCampus newcomers, and walk-ins are welcome. Registration is not required.

Health Sciences email addresses now in Office 365 directory

Information Technology Services has added the email addresses of all 3,750 WVU Health Sciences employees to the Office 365 directory. That means HSC employee names can now be found when users are adding them into Outlook email.

The change, completed June 30, also gives non-HSC users the ability to invite Health Sciences employees to meetings and view their free/busy calendars. However, HSC employees cannot do full calendar sharing with other employees.
