Information Technology Welcomes New Director of Project Management

Deborah Sartin is joining WVU Information Technology on Feb. 28 as Director of Project Management. She will coordinate IT projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, on budget and to the customers’ satisfaction.

Deborah has worked for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Rockville, Md., as director of the Office of Business Excellence. She also worked as senior technical project manager at the University of New Mexico for five years. Her experience also includes stints with PR Newswire, T-Mobile USA, Mead Corp. and the Federal Communications Commission.

Deborah has a master’s degree in information systems management from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in legal communications from Howard University.

Deborah currently lives in Gaithersburg, Md., with her husband, but they are relocating to Morgantown this month and look forward to being part of the WVU community. Deborah enjoys technology, fine and performing arts, and spending time with family and friends.

Chief Information Officer John Campbell welcomes Deborah and expresses his gratitude to Alex Jalso, who has performed double duty for the past year.

Alex has ably served as interim project management director, helping to oversee the completion of the eCampus upgrade and the progression of many other projects, while simultaneously fulfilling his duties as Director of Information Security Services.

Since Sept. 3, 2013, Information Technology has hired 12 new employees.

Only two senior IT leadership positions remain unfilled. The Assistant Director of UNIX Systems Administration is currently posted, and the Director of Enterprise Application Support soon will be reposted.
