How To Order

  • WVU-Owned PC-
    1. Complete the Online Software Order Form.
    2. Installation instructions will be provided with the SLIC certificate when the software arrives.
  • Employee-Owned PC-
    1. Visit the Individual Licenses section of the Wolfram Higher Ed webpage.
  • Student-Owned PC-
    1. Visit Wolfram's Website to purchase a student license for Mathematica.
    2. Install and enjoy!

Mathematica is the world's most powerful global computing environment. Ideal for use in engineering, mathematics, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, and a wide range of other fields, it makes possible a new level of automation in algorithmic computation, interactive manipulation, and dynamic presentation--as well as a whole new way of interacting with the world of data. 


Extended Trial Offer - WVU Faculty and Graduate Student Researchers may contact SLIC at to obtain 3-4 month evaluation license codes.

Employees can put Mathematica on WVU-Owned computers by completing the SLIC Online Software Order FormMinimum of 5 licenses required for purchase. All licenses require an annual commitment through August 2018. Installation instructions will be provided with the SLIC certificate when the software arrives.

Employees can put Mathematica on their personal machines by visiting the Individual Licenses section of the Wolfram Higher Ed webpage.

Students have access to Mathematica in the Downtown Campus Library and Evansdale Library. Students can also purchase a Mathematica Student license for personally owned computers from the Wolfram website. Both Desktop and Online licenses are available. Pricing starts as low as $10 per month. 


Mathematica licenses expire each year on August 14th. To continue using Mathematica, you need to do the following:

  • WVU-Owned Computers
    • Contact at least one month before August 14 to renew your license. SLIC will provide a license code with the license certificate.
  • Employee-Owned Computers
  • Student-Owned Computers
    • WVU Students can purchase and renew Mathematica Desktop and Online licenses on the Wolfram website
